August 25, 2010 – U.S. law enforcement agencies are among the customers of a Massachusetts-based company that is selling full-body scanners to be mounted inside vans and used on streets, says a report from Forbes.
American Science & Engineering, based in Billerica, Massachusetts, told Forbes blogger Andy Greenberg that it has sold more than 500 "Z Backscatter Vans," mobile x-ray scanning units that can be used to detect bombs, contraband and smuggled people inside nearby cars. |

PHOENIX, Arizona - August 25, 2010 - An Arizona man fighting to keep a historical American flag flying outside his home vows he will not take it down unless ordered to do so by a judge.
Andy McDonel of Leveen, Arizona, says he received a letter on August 6 from his homeowner’s association, Avalon Village Community Association, instructing him to "remove debris" from his suburban Phoenix home within 10 days or face a $25 fine. |
