Business owner kills suspected burglar!
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -
May 8, 2008 - A business owner trying to deter what he called repeat
burglaries shot and killed another man he alleged was breaking into his
carpentry business Wednesday night.
The shooting occurred around 11:30
p.m. in the 3300 block of Roland Avenue on the city's Southeast Side.
San Antonio Police Capt. Chris
Andersen said the shooter told police he was "camping out" to catch
the suspected thief when he heard a noise coming from the area of his
business, which sits behind his residence. Andersen said the man said he
saw the alleged burglar inside his fenced-in lawn and hitting
his dog with a pipe.
Afraid the man would come after him
too, the business owner shot once with a shotgun.
Andersen said the shooting is under
investigation but may fall under the "castle doctrine" which allows
property owners to use lethal force to protect themselves and their property.
Andersen said the dog was fine.
