WASHINGTON (PNN) - October 13, 2026 - Grand Jury subpoenas have been issued in the federal criminal investigation into Ilhan Omar, according to The New York Times.
Federal agents raided the DC-area residence of Rep. Ilhan Omar (Minn.) early Monday morning as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into her immigration paperwork. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents arrived at Ilhan Omar’s home at 6:00 am and removed boxes of evidence.
The Department of Justice (DoJ) secured a search warrant for Omar’s home amid a year-long investigation into her immigration fraud activities. Federal investigators have been probing the immigration paperwork filed by Omar’s father.
However, the scope of the federal criminal investigation is much wider than previously reported.
On Monday, the Associated Press and NBC News reported that according to sources, federal investigators were also probing Omar’s financial records. United States Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro confirmed this on Tuesday morning during an appearance on Fox News.
President Donald J. Trump lashed out at Omar over her financial records on Tuesday evening. “Why did Ilhan Omar report a net worth of up to 30 million dollars just a short time ago, and then immediately say, ‘Oh, I made a mistake! It’s really $100,000.’ Could it be that her highly paid accountant actually reported the money that was stolen from her fraudulent activities in Minnesota? Would something like that be possible? Do you think the accountant actually gave the right number the first time, 30 million dollars, and then she was forced to disavow because she never would have been able to report where that much money came from? She must have freaked out when she saw that money! Where did her house come from, where did her cars come from, and what about her lovely place in Washington, D.C.? I didn’t know that congressmen and women made that kind of money, but I do know her husband, according to information and belief, makes almost nothing, so it couldn’t have come from him. How many people did she illegally bring into our country from Somalia? (Amerika) wants answers, and we want them now!”
Later Tuesday, Grand Jury subpoenas were issued to Omar’s family members. “Federal agents investigating Representative Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, have issued subpoenas to some relatives as officials scour her family’s history for evidence of fraud and false statements in immigration paperwork, according to people familiar with the matter.” NYT reported.
A sister of Omar’s, Sahra Noor, received a subpoena, as did at least one other member of her family circle, according to people familiar with the investigation.
