ROME, Italy (PNN) - October 23, 2026 - After violent riots ripped through Milan and Turin, leaving behind a slew of smashed stores, damaged property and injured police, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni decided she had seen enough and took action.
Considering how many of these masked troublemakers are Marxist teenagers and violent migrants, she is making the parents pay the price for their bratty hoodlum children.
Under Italy’s new security crackdown, parents could be paying hefty fines when their children get caught participating in violent riots. That is just one part of a bigger crackdown on the chaos that has been unfolding across the country.
Meloni is not interested in allowing Italy’s beautiful cities to become playgrounds for violent little Leftwing punks. The violence in Milan was particularly ugly, with masked rioters smashing storefronts, looting businesses and clashing with the cops in the heart of one of Italy’s most famous cities.
Turin also saw clashes involving young protesters, with barricades and objects thrown at the police. But Meloni is not stopping at fines.
Italy’s Cabinet approved an emergency decree-law on October 20 in response to the weekend riots in Milan, ANSA reported. The eight-article text creates a new offense of violent participation in demonstrations, extends preventive detention to minors aged 16 and over, and sends 500 more soldiers to Milan through December 31 at a cost of €4.7 million.
Italy is calling up more military and giving officials better tools to deal with violent anarchists and migrants; but we really love how Meloni is going after the parents of these children.
Because if your child thinks it is perfectly fine to spend Saturday afternoon smashing somebody’s business to pieces, you will be getting a rather expensive lesson in parental responsibility. Under the new rules, parents of Marxist Left-wing minors involved in these violent riots can face fines from €500 to €1,000, with penalties doubling for repeat offenses.
Parents of minors who commit violence at demonstrations face fines of €500 to €1,000, and the fine doubles for a repeat. It applies even when the minor is too young to be prosecuted. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that if a minor is responsible for the damage, the parents should pay, and she asked all political forces to side with legality.
The new crime covers anyone who uses sticks or clubs or throws objects at a protest in a way that endangers people. It carries two to five years in prison and a fine of up to €20,000, with a higher penalty for a covered face or damage to public infrastructure or utilities. Anyone who organizes or promotes groups for violent demonstrations, including through online tools, faces four to 12 years.
The message is clear: if you are responsible for destroying property there will be consequences, and being underage is not going to get you off the hook.
As a matter of fact, under the new provision, even children as young as 14 are presumed to be perfectly capable of understanding their actions, making it way easier to press charges.
For minors, those over 14 are presumed capable of understanding their acts and can be charged immediately, a provision carried over from a bill the Cabinet approved in July. Meloni said then that anyone who assaults, robs or wrecks must pay “even if he is 15 or 16,” and the opposition called it propaganda and an authoritarian drift. The new decree also lets the police chief bar a group of five or more minors from gathering where they behave in an intimidating way. It also makes a minor injury to an officer prosecutable automatically and adds optional deferred arrest for property damage.
People are sick and tired of the Marxist Left’s soft-on-crime agenda. It is happening in the United States and all over the world, and innocent people are suffering because of it.
In addition, Italy is a country with extraordinary history, beautiful cities, and a culture that has survived for centuries. Its people should not have to stand by while masked Marxist Left-wing gangs and violent, ungrateful migrants treat their streets like a terrorist’s playground. Parents might want to start paying a little more attention to what their children are doing when they head out to these riots, because their little weekend adventure could turn into one hell of an expensive “family” outing.
