A significant political realignment is emerging in Illinois as voters in downstate counties face a referendum on potential separation from Cook County. The proposal seeks to explore the creation of a new state, reflecting the growing divide between the urban-centric policies of Chicago and the distinct priorities of rural communities. This movement, part of a broader trend of internal secession, aims to alter political boundaries rather than sever ties with the United States. Dr. Steve Turley reports.
