Years ago, claims of racism led most colleges to stop requiring the test. Five years later, the SAT is making a comeback. Activists said ditching the test would allow more students to be accepted into a wider range of colleges. Sounds nice. But in reality, it is about making these campuses look right, using them to make your college catalog look more colorful, says Jason Riley of The Wall Street Journal. It’s not about learning. Mismatching students and schools only hurt minority students. Now schools finally acknowledge that test scores were a useful indicator. No kidding. Every Ivy League university has brought back testing, and other schools are following suit. John Stossel reports.
